Eurythmics - Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This) [1983]
Eurythmics est un groupe pop new wave formé de Annie Lennox et de Dave Stewart qui connut un succès aussi bien commercial qu'artistique durant la décennie 80. Ils sont réputés pour leur pop incarnée par la puissante voix d'Annie Lennox (alto), et les techniques de production inventives élaborées par Dave Stewart.
Après l'echec commercial de leur premier album "In the Garden" en 1981, le groupe sort leur deuxième album "Touch" en 1983 contenant le premier gros succès commercial (considérable) d'Eurythmics : "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)" , chanson sombre soutenue par une basse rythmique synthétique obsédante. La chanson sera n°1 aux USA le 03 septembre 1983 pour une semaine, n°2 en Grande Bretagne et en Irlande, n°4 en Allemagne, n°5 en France dans le Top 30 mensuel et en Afrique du Sud, n°6 en Australie, n°8 en Suisse, n°9 en Autriche et n°10 aux Pays Bas.
Le groupe connu d'autres succès comme par exemple "Here comes the rain again", "Sexcrime (nineteen eighty-four)" en 1984, "There Must Be an Angel (Playing With my Heart)" en 1985 et "The Miracle of Love" en 1986
Le duo se sépare en 1990. Dave Stewart monte les Spiritual Cowboys et Annie Lennox se lance en solo. En 1999, ils Reforment Eurythmics avec une tournée et du merchandising intégralement reversés au profit de Greenpeace et d'Amnesty International.
