INXS - Original Sin [1984]

INXS (se prononce In Excess) est un groupe australien de rock et de new wave qui connut une grande popularité au cours des années 80 et 90.
 
L'histoire d'INXS commence au Lycée Davidson, en 1976. C'est là qu' Andrew Harris, future guitariste et clavier du groupe, aide Michael Hutchence à se sortir d'une bagarre. Devenus amis, ils forment en 1977 leur premier groupe, Doctor Dolphin, avant de rejoindre les frères Farris - Jon (batteur) et Tim (guitariste, manager) - Kirk Pengilly (saxophoniste) et Garry Beers (basse).
 
C'est en 1980 que le groupe prend le nom définitif d'INXS et sort un premier album éponyme. En 1981, sort "Beneath the Colour" puis en 1983 vient le premier album US des Australiens: "Shabooh Shoobah". INXS monte en puissance pendant toute la décennie 80. "Kick" en 1987 comporte les titres qui pimentent alors plus d'une soirée : "New Sensation", "Need You Tonight", "Devil Inside", "Never Tear us Apart".
 
Prémonitoire, le dernier album du groupe titré "Elengantly Wasted" sort en 1997. Le 22 novembre de la même année, Michael Hutchence se suicide. Le 20 septembre 2005, le chanteur canadien J.D. Fortune devient le nouveau chanteur après une compétition de 12 semaines dans le reality show de CBS Rock Star : INXS.
 
En presque 20 ans d'existence, INXS a vendu plus de 20 millions d'albums.
